Dental The traditional treatment for dental caries is "drilling and filling" - a method time-consuming for the dentist, unpopular with patients, and resulting in a progressive loss of natural dentition. With the Biogun many carious lesions can be painlessly sterilised, sealed or allowed to re-mineralise. Other dental uses include the treatment of periodontitis, gingivitis, mouth ulcers and candidiasis, including angular cheilitis.
In clinical trials a prototype Biogun killed 99.8% of all the micro-organisms in root carious dental lesions within four minutes. The more powerful production models promise even faster results. Who Benefits? Everybody - the dentist, from shorter treatment times with less risk of cross-infection because the procedure is non-invasive; and patients, especially elderly people (whose naturally-receding gum-lines make them particularly prone to tooth decay along the gingival margin) and children - in fact anyone who doesn't like injections and drills. The end result is that young and old alike are able to keep more of their natural teeth for longer. Chiropody Biogun therapy already plays an indispensable part in many chiropody practices, treating verrucae, athlete's foot, infected leg ulcers, hypergranulation, infected onychocryptosis, onychomycosis and other nail infections with minimal preparation and often in one session. In one trial the Biogun achieved 84% success against verrucae, while in another three-year study involving over 200 patients suffering from verruca pedis, mosaic verrucae and hand warts, using the Biogun in conjunction with a keratolytic (applied only when necessary to soften any hard replacement tissue) pushed the success rate up to 100%.
